This was a game full of mistakes, frees and not very much open passages of play. It was very disappointing to lose with a last minute goal, but it was a proud performance from all the girls, who showed huge heart and commitment over the hour.
It helped that Joanne and Ashling scored early goals and those boosted us, making us fight for every ball in every area of the pitch.
By half time, the teams were level at 2-1 to 1-4 with all the points coming from frees.
Although Dunloy scored a goal just after half time and enjoyed a period of pressure, we upped our performance again and fought our way back with two frees from Torie.
Caoimhe’s goal direct from a long range free put us a point ahead entering the last five minutes and she added another point from a free a few minutes later, all before the late drama and concession of a goal in the dying minutes.
An excellent performance from everyone, but special mention to Sian, Ellen, Kirsten and Laoise.
Next week’s game with Portglenone is another home match for us – 7pm in Fr Maginn Park.
